Introduction
This 3-week project was one of my first forays into need-to-prototype design, and one of my first real-world applications of the design thinking process.
Through our class (Introduction to Human Values in Design), we were tasked with developing a product or service to reimagine the food truck industry. Our 4-person team conducted need-finding, developed a Point-of-View, created prototypes, and refined those prototypes into a pitch for a final product. Â
Below are some reflections from our need-finding. We decided to focus on a food truck vendor who felt safe serving in their home community, around family and returning customers, but felt insecure and isolated as they traveled to other areas to deliver their food.

Our low-fidelity prototypes consisted simply of post-it notes, allowing vendors and food service employees to solicit quick feedback. Our initial idea came in the form of a mural made by a local artist, attached to the truck.

After speaking with workers, however, we re-examined our POV and pivoted our prototype to an interactable house with conversation starters for each of the vendors, prompting users to come speak to vendors at the window.
